In academic field, there are numerous existed literatures to illustrate the usefulness of three functions of social media and its utility – website ranking, past customer comments and shared online video advertisement, as the effectiveness of social media to benefit the operating performance of the organizations in food and beverage industry. This study collected 500 samples online from the Internet users in China and Singapore social media sites associated with food and beverage field. There are totally three research objectives in this study – (i) What is the role of website ranking in social media sites for restaurants in China and Singapore to improve its operational performance; (ii) What is the role of past customer comments in social media sites for helping restaurants in China and Singapore improve their operational performance; and (iii) What is the role of shared online video advertisement in social media sites to benefit the operation improvement of restaurants in China and Singapore? In this study, it drew three results based on the research purpose. Result (i) website ranking in social media sites can be an effective marketing tool of restaurants in China and Singapore in order to improve its operational performance in the market; (ii) past customer comments in social media sites can be a useful business channel to help restaurants in China and Singapore reaching and attracting the target and potential customers in market; and (iii) shared online video advertisement in social media sites is the useful marketing tool for restaurants in China and Singapore attracting more interested customers in market.
